Hi, I buy a small present that will mean a lot. For instance, I am getting my step dad a framed vinyl cover of R.E.M Automatic For the People. £4 in hairy records (I guess) and he'll love it. Plus I'm a student and they know I'm skint.

Swindle: Mozgate

When Morrissey came out on stage he announced "It's Saturday night, it's raining, it's Liverpool, it's perfect", but by half way through his second song he walked off stage to not return. There was nothing perfect about the evening. It's raining. Your feet are wet through, it's cold, you're tired, it's crowded, people are pushing and shoving, and generally acting like their consumerism means they out rank you. You can hear five different buskers at once and it doesn't sound good, but your headphones have given up on drowning out the sound.
You go into a shop and have to shove your way to a shelf which confronts you with a pile of over priced crap that no one wants. Someone is trying to shove you out the way while you're try… Continue

Discussion: Panic NOW!

The media's default way of getting our attention is by inducing a state of panic... A fantastic example is kill or cure, a site that logs everything the daily mail claims to cause or prevent cancer. Both affluence and poverty cause cancer, and eating pizza can both cure and prevent it. If we manage to get through a bus journey without a terrorist attack we've probably just caught a fatal dose of swine flu... to put it simply, we're al… Continue

Swindle

I’ve always had pets. As a kid my parents weren’t into buying me piles of plastic like my friends had, so instead of the latest My Little Ponies I had rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, even sheep and goats. Rural life didn’t suit me, I spent my teens hopping trains to London, hanging out with older kids that had their own places already and getting pissed when I should have been revising. But I knew university was the easiest way out of rural Dorset, so I came to Liverpool. Living in… Continue
